Student Success Statement

Student Success Statement

"Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both in dollars and in peace of mind."

B.C. Forbes

What this quote is trying to say is that you need to always choose the right path. You can either be the hero or the villain. You can either steal or pay. You can either tell the truth or lie. So, you have an option to do good or bad. But this quote refers to honesty. So, you always want to tell the truth. If you on't choose to tell the truth, get ready to suffer even more harsh consequences. So, never lie. But always tell the truth to avoid trouble.

Honesty

Honesty is always the best policy. Employers need to know that they can trust you with everything from company credit cards to trade secrets. How can you work at honesty? You demonstrate integrity every day that you do your own homework and resist the temptation to cheat on exams.

What is honesty?
·       Honesty is telling the truth.
·       Honesty is straightforward conduct.
·       Honesty is being sincere, truthful, trustworthy, honorable, fair, genuine, and loyal with integrity.
You are being honest when you…
·       Do your own homework
·       Tell a friend the truth
·       Explain the real reason you didn’t turn in your homework
·       Keep your eye on your own paper
·       Clean up your room after making a promise
·       Give the cashier the extra money she gave you by mistake
·       Write a report in your words instead of copying
·       Admit you made the mistake
·       Keep a friend’s secret
·       Turn in a wallet full of money that you found

Year End Reflection

"Year End Reflection"

A. What did you accomplish this year?
I accomplished having straight A's in all my classes. i also accomplished being this school's first ninth grade president. I have great relationships between my teachers. I am also involved in the school site counsel. I am in the humanitarian club.

B. What have you done this year that you are proud of?
I am proud of all the above. I am proud to be the ninth grade president. I am proud to have good relationships with all my teachers. I am proud of having straight A's. And I am proud to be involved in my school.

C. What new things did you learn about YOURSELF? Did you discover any new talents or interests?
I learned that you cannot be a shy person in high school. You can't be all quiet, you need to speak out. If you don't, you will fall behind and have no friends. New talents could be talking more to people. Before high school I would just keep quiet, now I speak out more. New talents can be playing football.

D. What is one problem or struggle you encountered this school year that you overcame?
One problem or struggle I encountered was studying. I never had time to study. Or I was just too lazy to study. But now I make flashcards to study more frequently. Another problem was procrastinating. I was sometimes too lazy to complete assignments and did them in a rush towards the end of high school.

E. We often learn more from teachers than the subject they teach. What is a positive life lesson you have learned from a teacher this year? Why was this lesson important to you?
One was from my teacher, Ms. Harmony. She would say, use all your resources. This was important because it is very true. You are not just gong to depend on one resource, you need to go and seek a replacement. So you have no excuse. Another life lesson could be from my favorite teacher, Mr. Haymore. His motto is to choose the right. This is important because you need to always do this in life. It is either the right or wrong. And tell me, which would you choose? And finally, Mrs. Patao. She says never to give up. This is a very important life lesson because you need to try and succeed in life. You can quit, but you got to try!

"Stop worrying about whether you're going to win or lose and focus your full attention on what's happening right this moment."
Phil Jackson

11 World championships- Coach
2 World Championships- Player
2 High School Championships- Player

This quote means that you shouldn't just focus upon you winning or losing. What matters is that you should focus on whats happening at this very moment. So, don't mind the score. What matters is what you do about the score. An example would be a basketball game. Your team is down fifteen points and there are less than four minutes until the game is over. Don't think about that defeat just yet and that loss counting against you. Just worry about what you can do. You can send your best players out there and hope they do enough just to barely win the game. Never give up easily and choose the right!

Time Management 8 of 10

Time Management

Master the moments and you may be a real pro when it comes to juggling the many demands on your time – classes, homework and activities – with some family help. College gives you an even bigger chance to sharpen your time management skills by doing it all on your own. And that’s a good thing since most jobs require multitasking. You might need to take care of current clients while attracting new ones, respond to e-mails while working on a major presentation, or order tomorrow’s produce while planning next week’s menu.
Someone said, “Whenever you are, be there.” Focus on the present moment and give it all your attention. Don’t let your mind drift and wander here and there when you need to be thinking and concentrating on the moment at hand. You can’t go back and recapture this moment, so make the most of it while it NOW. Master the present and you will master the future. Wok smart by mastering the present moment.

"Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon."
Elizabeth Cady Stanton

What this quote means is that you can only rely on truth, because if you lie you get into more trouble rather than you started off with. So, always remember to choose the right and never lie. If you lie you make matters worse. If you ever feel like you need to lie, DON'T! Always tell the truth. Who cares if you tell the truth  and get into trouble. You need to get the consequence you deserve. And either way if you still lie, you will get even more severe consequences.

Attention to Detail 7 of 10

Attention to Detail
7 of 10
When you double-check your calculations for a math problem or cite sources carefully in a research paper, you’re paying close attention to detail. That skill comes in handy in any workplace, whether you maintain a database, keep a log of the hours you spend with clients or write e-mails.
John Wooden, UCLA’s former great basketball coach who lead his teams to ten consecutive national championships, was asked what he attributed his success to. Among a number of things, he mentioned that paying attention to details was one of the most important qualities for successful coaching and for high achievement in any worthwhile pursuit.  He even paid attention to how his players would lace up and tie their shoe string. If they didn't tie them correctly, he would teach them how.
Details may be small things, but from small things come great things; therefore, pay attention to details and you will experience substantial progress in your overall educational attainment.
